Oklahomans encouraged to visit Giving Machines at Scissortail Park

Giant red vending machines that will provide Oklahomans a way to give back to people in need are coming to Scissortail Park. The Giving Machines, which allow people to donate to charities in the community with the tap of a button, will be open for business starting on Wednesday at the Oklahoma City park. The machines are part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Light the World campaign Inside the machines are rows of cards with items needed across the community. They're the first in Oklahoma and have items that range from $5 to $200. Organizers said the machines give Oklahomans a chance to visualize what they're giving. The donations will go back to charities in Oklahoma City, including the Regional Food Bank and Pivot. The big red machines are located behind the feather statue at Scissortail Park. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday. People can donate through Jan. 4.
