True freshman linebacker Khmori House, who stamped himself as a rising star this season, is reportedly entering the transfer portal.
Matt Zenitz of CBSSports/247Sports, reported Monday evening that House's agency told his organization that House was entering the portal.
House, 6 feet and 213 pounds, enrolled at Washington last winter quarter and won UW's Travis Spring Most Outstanding Freshman Award.
He had an impact in his first season, finishing with 35 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and four pass breakups. UW coach Jedd Fisch has repeatedly called House the future of the defense.
House played in all 12 games and finished with at least five tackles five times.
House became the first Husky to receive a weekly Big Ten honor as he was named the conference freshman of the week after recording three tackles and an interception, which he returned 19 yards, in a 24-5 win over Northwestern in September.
Perhaps House's biggest moment came in UW's 26-21 win over USC early last month. USC faced fourth-and-goal at the UW 1-yard line late in the fourth quarter.
"My phone's been going crazy," House said on the Tuesday after that game. "I try not to look at all that. I just got to move on. It was a great play, I'm proud of myself for getting that done, but we've got Penn State this week and we've got to execute."
UW defensive coordinator Steve Belichick praised House during the week after that win.
"You're telling him to slow down more than you're telling him to speed up," Belichick said. "You love that about a player. He's really eager, but I'm really happy for him. Made a big play in the game for us, and we're happy to have him, for sure. Great kid."
House played for high school football power St. John Bosco (Pasadena, Calif.) and was ranked by ESPN as the No. 42 linebacker in the nation.
Note
Ryder Bumgarner, a redshirt freshman running back from Stanwood High School, announced on social media that he was entering the transfer portal with three seasons of eligibility. He did not appear in any games the past two seasons.
