The North Platte boys wrestling team fell behind early to Grand Island and couldn't catch up as the Bulldogs lost 42-30 on Tuesday at home.
"I thought they battled for the most part," North Platte coach John Little said. "We had a couple guys that had never been in this position. We're a pretty young team, but we have some solid kids too."
There were a few bright spots during the dual. Lathen Huntsman and Dominick Decent picked up quick pins in less than a minute, and Kirk Wilson nabbed a second-period pin over Hayden Klimek in 3:42.
Reece Perry also nabbed a last-second decision win with a takedown in the final seconds of his match with Carter Peterson.
"Lathen is dangerous," Little said. "He can do some things that most people can't. He did really good."
